Here is a research about bridges. I tried to look for some aspects that I would like to have in my bridge and not be so worry about the timber structure. One of them, lightness: This is a bridge of Miró Riviera Architects. I think this bridge is a perfect balance of intervention in a natural environment. In this case, of course, the lake is a isolated place and the bridge is the only intervention of this kind. But I really like the way that the form is soft, delicated. Of course, this is only possible because of the metal structure. Otherwise we have other bridges in the project site, I want something inhabited and also delicated. Somehow, I want the bridge to look like more something that is familiar with the rest of the environment than something like a giant elephant. reference: http://www.archdaily.com.br/br/01-156133/ponte-para-pedestres-miro-rivera-architects Other nice feature is to enjoy the canal itself and the able to locate activities based in the view. Like a belvedere or a suspended restaurant. This is a project of Adnan Alagić,Bojan Kanlić& Amila Hrustić called Festina Lente. It's also a pedestrian bridge and it has a design that allows a place to stay and enjoy the view of Academy of Fine Arts. reference: http://www.archdaily.com.br/br/01-89419/festina-lente-adnan-alagic-bojan-kanlic-e-amila-hrustic One of the niciest projects about a inhabited bridge that I found so far, is this from McDowell + Benedetti. This is a bridge that moves and allows to fit its function with the passage of the boats. reference: http://www.archdaily.com.br/br/01-143393/passarela-river-hull-mcdowell-mais-benedetti
To start the research about timber bridges, and briges that are more than a simple link, I decided to revisit the existing bridges in Nottingham Canal. |
