It is a very inspiring documentary towards the life and history of Pina including a lot of famous dancers who worked with her mostly. So, by curiosity I searched about her life and discovery that she had an interest in WHY people move. When we finally were told to do a school about something creative, I was more than happy to do about dance. At this face, I thought it would be modern dance. But, after having a tutorial when I was introduced to Martha Granham. Those two coreographers have different approachs in dance. Pina is about expression, telling you a history (theatrical). Maintain movements os classical ballet, but has a more acted approach. Martha works with the body as a photo. It has a sculpture appeal, using fabric as texture and revealing moments of the actor as a sculpture. After this kind of comparison, I could be sure about doing something different from the traditional or classic dance. But, I want to do a school with a contemporary approach. I dont want to be anachronistic. So, this is when I finally understand a little bit more of dance. |
| Until now, I am decided to do a school about dance. I had this idea because I really love dance. It is one of the most finest, beautiful and sensitive act that a human being can do. And, it is done only with the body. So, It is amazing. As deciding the type of dance, I rather choose something as Modern Dance than Jazz dance, that is what I do in Brazil. But, recently I watched this amazing documentary about Pina Bausch in Netflix Dance is, like every other art, complex. As I had history of Art or History of Architecture, there are a long History of Dance that I unfortunately have not learned. And as the first two are connected by its context and evolved intrinsically, dance is there as well. Roughly, Modern Dance is a reaction to classical Ballet. And then, we have postmodern dance and Contemporary Dance, that is somehow the actual pace about the discussion. |
